We charge $150 plus HST to prepare and swear a basic affidavit.

Affidavits are sworn statements, attesting to certain facts or situations.  The party making the statement takes an oath or makes a declaration as to the authenticity of the statements contained in the document, in front of a certified commissioner or a solicitor.  Affidavits do not  need to be notarized if they are to be used in Canada.

Invitation Letters, which are used in immigration matters to sponsor family members or friends for visits to Canada, can also be done in the form of an affidavit, but these types of "Invitation Letter" affidavits must be notarized, for which there is an additional charge.   Sometimes, a client will ask us to swear the signature on a letter or statement they have prepared themselves.  It is your responsibility to ensure that the contents of these documents will satisfy the immigration authorities for which they are intended.

Foreign Travel Authorizations for minor children:  there is a standard form which can be found on the Canadian Immigration website that can be filled out ahead of time.  However, it will be necessary for the parent who is authorizing the foreign travel of a minor child to bring photo ID and court documents proving who has current custody of that child where applicable.
